For those who own and appreciate the features of the Wyze Cam v2, you’re bound to like the features the Wyze Cam v3 has to offer as well.
The Wyze Cam v2 provides 24/7 continuous recording for no monthly fee. All you need is a microSD drive. Installation is simple with a magnetic mount, and you can access video clips with free cloud storage for up to 14 days.
The Wyze Cam v3 includes those features and more, which we’ll break down for you below. At this time, the biggest downside is that the camera is unavailable to the general public due to a global shortage of supplies needed for production. However, if you’re a Cam Plus subscriber or willing to sign up, Wyze has set aside enough inventory so that subscribers can purchase the new product. If you’d rather wait, you can sign up to find out when the Wyze Cam v3 is fully available again.

- Magnetic mounting — Adhere part of the base to the location where you want to install the camera. Then, take the magnetic plate, place it on the bottom of the camera, and press onto the base to secure it.
- Screw or nail mounting — For more secure placement, you can use nails or screws to attach the camera to the location of your choice.
- Third-party ¼ inch mounting base — Have a third-party mount? You can thread in a compatible third-party mount through the bottom of the camera.
Wyze Cam v3 Video and Audio
The Wyze Cam v3 captures 1080p HD video at 20 frames per second, creating clearer, crisper video recordings. Additionally, the Wyze Cam v3 streams video faster than the v2 with double the processing power. And if you’ve been wanting to see more at one time, the v3 has a wider field of vision at 130 degrees, giving you 20 degrees more than the v2.
For audio, you’ll still be able to speak to anyone outside or inside your home. For instance, you can thank delivery persons, check in on the kids or pets, and let suspicious persons know that they’ve been spotted. In such an event, this camera packs a deterrence feature — the mini siren — that you can sound through the Wyze app when you want to deter unwelcome visitors.
Wyze Cam v3 Mobile App
You can download the mobile app to Android and iOS devices. In the app, you can set up custom motion detection zones to get notifications for sounds and activities that matter most. You can also adjust the sensitivity for sound and motion detection to help prevent unnecessary notifications.
For your camera, you can play back video and take snapshots, as well as create time lapses if you have a 32 GB microSD card. Plus, you can use the mobile app to program your camera to detect smoke or carbon monoxide alarms. By toggling on those settings, you will receive a push notification in the event any alarms are triggered.
Wyze Cam v3 Video Storage
This camera provides 14 days of cloud storage for free, so you can start recording immediately after you’ve set things up. If you want to opt for local storage, which provides access to 24/7 continuous recording, you’ll need a 32 GB microSD card. This memory card will allow for up to three days of continuous recording with the Wyze Cam v3.
When Will the Wyze Cam v3 Be Available?
The Wyze Cam v3 is currently available for Cam Plus subscribers and those who wish to sign up. However, due to a global shortage in necessary supplies, we aren’t sure when the camera will become available to the general public. You can sign up to be notified on the official website and stay in the loop through Wyze’s shipping updates page found here.
Is the Wyze Cam v3 Worth It?
We believe the Wyze Cam v3 would be most beneficial for those looking for an indoor or outdoor camera solution. Considering the Wyze Cam v2 is only suitable for indoor use, this new model is a major upgrade. Plus, the color night vision appears to provide a much brighter view for nighttime recording, which can mean the difference between identifying a security risk and missing it entirely.
Lastly, the built-in siren for deterrence makes video surveillance more active. Not only can you voice in through the camera, but you can also sound the alarm when necessary. Ultimately, the Wyze Cam v3 seems like a good investment for anyone looking for a security camera with deterrence and advanced features that come with no monthly fee.
