What Arlo Customers Say

Here’s an overview of how customers feel about Arlo security camera systems. Customers love how easy Arlo cameras are to install, but many customers are dissatisfied with the camera’s battery life and motion detection recording.

What they like

Easy installation. The one thing customers love most about Arlo is the fast and easy installation. After downloading the Arlo app, set up is self-explanatory with minimal room for error. Connecting multiple cameras to the smart home base station is also simple with the app. Hardwired Arlo security camera systems are also designed not to damage walls or other surfaces, and the magnetic mount is sturdy and easy to set up.

Remote video control. One of the features that Arlo doesn’t point out, but customers love is the ability to turn the video off remotely. With the Arlo app, you’ll be able to disable your Arlo security camera video for privacy if you’d like. Customers stated they liked the ease of turning off video detection when they’re home to avoid false alarms.

What they don’t like

Spotty motion detection recording. Dozens of Arlo customer reviews complain about Arlo’s security camera motion detection and camera recording. Customers have tried walking within the camera’s motion detector range to trigger the camera and begin motion detection recording, but don’t receive motion-triggered alerts or motion-detected recordings. However, the camera’s motion detector is not set to be sensitive enough to trigger the motion detector it doesn’t record the action, which results in missing critical moments to keep your home safe.

Battery life. Many Arlo customer reviews point out that battery-operated Arlo security camera systems use a special Arlo battery to power the camera. Unfortunately, if your home is in a high traffic area such as an apartment walkway, motion detection may be triggered more often, which could drain the battery life and result in needing to recharge more often than expected. Adjusting motion detection zones to reduce false alarms may be a good start, or considering another power source such as the standard wall outlet or PoE.
