The SimpliSafe Pro Video Doorbell can be set up to work with older and newer homes with an existing doorbell. If you own the SimpliSafe home security system with Interactive Monitoring, the video doorbell would be a great addition. It connects to all the sensors and starts recording as soon as activity is detected. The video doorbell retails for $169.

The SimpliCam indoor camera is easy to set up. Just place it where you want it, plug it in, download the SimpliSafe app, and connect the camera to your wifi. If you need help, you can always contact the company. The SimpliCam indoor camera captures 720p HD video and a 120-degree field of vision. The Simplicam is an indoor camera, but it can double as an outdoor camera with the purchase of the outdoor kit to protect it. This camera also comes with a privacy shutter that allows you to determine when you want the camera’s shutter to be opened or closed. To protect your footage, the SimpliCam is equipped with bank-level encryption. You’ll get alerts whenever motion is detected, and if you purchase the provider’s camera plan for $4.99/mo., you can store your footage for up to 30 days for reviewing, downloading, and sharing. You can purchase the SimpliCam at retail price for $99 or as part of a SimpliSafe home security system.

Simplicam and Video Doorbell Pro costs

The SimpliSafe Video Doorbell Pro costs $169, and the SimpliCam costs $99. But if you’d like video recording, you’ll need to factor in SimpliSafe’s Interactive Monitoring Plan. The plan includes the following:

  • 24/7 professional monitoring
  • Cellular connectivity
  • Mobile app control and alerts
  • Unlimited camera recording
  • Smart home integration

If you choose not to add the Interactive Monitoring Plan, you can purchase a camera subscription for $5 per month for one camera or $10 per month for up to 10 cameras. You’ll get 30 days of recordings that you can save to your mobile device.

SimpliSafe camera privacy

SimpliSafe’s cameras are designed to do more than capture video for you. They include several features, including a microphone for two-way talk and to pick up sound with the video. The cameras also have built-in night vision for clear footage in darker areas. But your home’s privacy is still SimpliSafe’s top priority. Check out a few of the features included to keep your personal data and recordings secure:

  • A stainless steel privacy shutter that covers the camera when you’re at home and not. You can also control the shutter using the app.
  • Visual verification when pairing your camera with SimpliSafe’s home security system. This allows SimpliSafe monitoring specialists to give police live visual verification of break-ins to lead to arrests.
  • Anytime recording using your smartphone.
  • U.S. military-level data encryption to protect your data.

Our Take on Simplicam and Video Doorbell Pro

SimpliSafe is our highest-rated home security system. Both the Simplicam and Doorbell Pro are reliable additions to the SimpliSafe home security system, making it more robust and secure. We love their commitment to privacy and end-to-end encryption.

However, if you are looking for a stand-alone camera or just a video doorbell, it might be worth checking out other options. SimpliSafe cameras are missing features that other providers offer, such as the ability to custom activity zones. Check our recommendations for video doorbells and security cameras.
