What Sets SimpliSafe Business Security Apart?

SimpliSafe opened in 2008, with a goal to provide wireless security systems which users could install themselves. Initially, SimpliSafe founder and CEO Chad Laurans sought to target apartment dwellers, because renters often have trouble finding home security companies that will install wired security systems in rental units. Today, SimpliSafe sells security systems and provides monitoring for more than two million homeowners, renters and businesses. SimpliSafe offers several self-install business security equipment packages starting at around $230. All packages include professional monitoring for $14.99/mo. SimpliSafe designed its business packages for small businesses that occupy buildings up to 20,000 square feet, with no more than 50 windows. The Better Business Bureau gives SimpliSafe an A+ rating.

  • SimpliSafe 13-Piece Business Package

    Starting at
    $14.99/mo

    Our Take

None of SimpliSafe’s packages include video surveillance, but you can add cameras and other devices to your system for more robust security. The Business 13 Piece Package includes enough equipment to cover two large rooms or two floors of a building, with up to four entry points. With a price tag of around $460, it is a great option for detached buildings with two floors.

    Package devices include:

    • 1 Base station
    • 1 Wireless keypad
    • 2 Motion sensors
    • 4 Entry sensors
    • 1 Panic button
    • 1 Extra siren 105 dB
    • 1 Water sensor
    • 1 Freeze sensor
    • 1 Keychain remote
  • SimpliSafe 12-Piece Business Package

    Starting at
    $14.99/mo

    Our Take

The Business 12 Piece Package includes most of the equipment in the 13 Piece Package, except a panic button, which you can purchase separately for $19.99. However, with the Business 12 Piece Package, you get six entry sensors, which means you can protect two doors and up to four windows. This package costs about $419.88 and is a good option for detached buildings with multiple entry points or multiple levels.

    Package devices include:

    • 1 Base station
    • 1 Wireless keypad
    • 2 Motion sensors
    • 6 Entry sensors
    • 1 Extra siren 105 dB
    • 1 Keychain remote
  • SimpliSafe 8-Piece Business Package

    Starting at
    $14.99/mo

    Our Take

Since all SimpliSafe business packages include the same base station and keypad, it is easy to start with a small security system and expand as your business grows. The Business 8 Piece Package costs around $319.93 and provides all the equipment you need to secure a one room space such as an open office or small retail outlet in a detached building.

    Package devices include:

    • 1 Base station
    • 1 Wireless keypad
    • 1 Motion sensor
    • 3 Entry sensors
    • 1 Extra siren 105 dB
    • 1 Keychain remote
  • SimpliSafe 7-Piece Business Package

    Starting at
    $14.99/mo

    Our Take

SimpliSafe’s Business 7 Piece Package lacks the external siren that the other packages contain, but can still secure up to three doors, windows or a combination of doors and windows. It is best suited for a small business located in a multi-unit complex or multi-level office building and costs about $259.95.

    Package devices include:

    • 1 Base station
    • 1 Wireless keypad
    • 1 Motion sensor
    • 3 Entry sensors
    • 1 Keychain remote
  • SimpliSafe 5-Piece Business Package

    Starting at
    $14.99/mo

    Our Take

The Business 5 Piece Package gives you the security of motion detection, but with just one entry sensor. This package works great for small interior offices in multi-unit buildings and costs around $229.96.

    Package devices include:

    • 1 Base station
    • 1 Wireless keypad
    • 1 Motion sensor
    • 1 Entry sensor
    • 1 Keychain remote

SimpliSafe Business Security Equipment and Features

  • SimpliSafe Home Security App

With the SimpliSafe Home Security App – available for Android and Apple devices – you can arm and disarm your alarm system from a few feet away or a remote location. When adding a SimpliSafe SimpliCam to your system, you can also use the app to view live video streams and access stored footage. The app’s interface includes a timeline history and integrates with freeze and water sensors for more advanced monitoring.

  • Base Station

SimpliSafe’s Base Station recognizes all your security devices as soon as you turn it on. It features cellular technology, which transmits directly to the SimpliSafe monitoring center using a SIM card, without the need for a phone line. The Base Station holds a built-in 85 dB siren and backup battery that lasts up to 24 hours, with the capacity to recognize 41 sensors.

  • Wireless Keypad

The SimpliSafe Wireless Keypad features standard “Home” and “Away” buttons, along with crash and smash technology. The device communicates with the Base Station, which you can hide in another location in your business. When an intruder enters your business, the Keyboard alarm beeps, while the Base Station notifies the monitoring center. After signaling the monitoring center, the Base Station blasts its siren. By separating the functions, the alarm system still operates, even if an intruder smashes the Wireless Keypad.

  • Entry Sensor

SimpliSafe’s Entry Sensors attach to door and window frames with adhesive tape and come equipped with built-in batteries. The two parts of the Entry Sensors contain magnets, which alert the Base Station when separated by more than two inches. In disarmed mode, the Base Station sounds a door chime to alert anyone in the building. The Base Station can connect to Entry Sensors up to 400 feet away.

  • Motion Sensor

SimpliSafe Motion Sensors have a 90° field of view and detect motion up to 30 feet away. You can set Motion Sensors to monitor a room in Away mode only or in Home and Away modes. SimpliSafe designed its Motion Sensors to install in corners, on shelves or attached to walls, with pet-friendly technology that does not trigger the alarm when cats or dogs under 50 lbs. walk through the room.

  • SimpliCam

The SimpliSafe SimpliCam features a 120° field of view, night vision technology, a built-in microphone, high definition video recording, 30-day video storage and Wi-Fi connectivity. Using the SimpliSafe App, you can view live streams from a remote computer, smartphone or tablet, view and download recorded footage and receive alerts when the camera detects motion. SimpliCam uses heat signature technology, which can distinguish between pets and humans.

  • Glass Break Sensor

Glass Break Sensors detect frequencies associated with the sound of breaking glass and trigger your alarm system. For the best protection, SimpliSafe recommends pairing Glass Break Sensors with Motion Detectors on the ground floor of your business.

  • Panic Button

The SimpliSafe Panic Button triggers the alarm system and alerts the monitoring center that you have an emergency. After receiving your distress alert, a SimpliSafe monitoring agent will call to find out if you need assistance. If you do not pick up the phone or give your “safe word” to the monitoring center, they will contact the police. You can also set the Panic Button to silent mode, to prevent alerting an intruder of your presence.

  • Wireless Freeze Sensor

The SimpliSafe Wireless Freeze Sensor takes hourly temperature readings inside your workplace and calls, texts or emails you if the temperature falls below 41° Fahrenheit. The SimpliSafe system also enables you to remotely review temperature readings in the online command center.

  • Wireless Water Sensor

When placed near major plumbing components, SimpliSafe’s Wireless Water Sensor sounds an audible alarm if it comes in contact with water. The Wireless Water Sensor integrates with your alarm system and calls, texts or emails you when triggered.

  • Extra 105 dB Siren

SimpliSafe designed the weather resistant Extra 105 dB Siren for outdoor use. When an intruder breaches your building, the siren blasts a 105 dB sound to alert nearby homes or businesses. The small, 6.5-inch device can easily adhere to exterior or interior walls.

  • Keychain Remote

With SimpliSafe’s Keychain Remote, you can arm or disarm your alarm system with the click of a button. Measuring just three inches long, the Keychain Remote easily fits in a pocket or purse and features a panic button.
