What is the Birdie Alarm?
This personal safety device is designed with a deafening 130dB siren (about as loud as a jet engine roaring at about 100 feet) and a strobe light. Birdie is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and can easily be attached to your belt loop, wristlet, shirt loop, or purse. The alarm’s siren can sound for about 40 minutes on new batteries, allowing time for someone to notice that something is wrong and help is needed.
How do I test drive Birdie?
To test the personal safety device, cover the back of the device so that the alarm won’t hurt your ears, and then turn the front of the device to face your target. Pull the pin, and the alarm will sound. To stop the alarm, replace the pin until it clicks.

Are personal alarms effective?
Personal alarms can be effective if used properly. It’s important to make sure you understand the features of the alarms and limitations. Many personal alarms are designed to be triggered by the user in an emergency to let others know they need help. Still, they can be rendered useless without proper power levels, a signal for GPS tracking alarms, and if the alarm is taken or destroyed.
Some good news is that personal alarms are expected to grow in popularity. Business Wire forecasts the market for personal safety tracking devices to grow incrementally by $186.23 million from 2020 to 2024. There are several personal safety alarms on the market today, but we’re happy to have learned that Birdie is designed for women by women to address their safety needs.

This device is great for students, adult women, and seniors alike. For students who travel campus alone or exercise alone, this device can provide support. For women commuting alone for work or taking care of errands by themselves, this device can provide support as well.
