Zander Identity Theft Review

Low monthly pricing and no-frills identity theft protection make Zander Identity Theft an effective and affordable choice for individuals and families. This popular ID theft protection service is endorsed by personal finance guru Dave Ramsey, but it lacks features found in pricier services, such as cybersecurity and credit report monitoring.

What Sets Zander ID Theft Protection Apart?

Unlike many identity theft protection companies, Zander doesn’t monitor your credit report for you. Instead, it sends you quarterly reminders to check it yourself, since you can do that for free. Meanwhile, Zander takes care of the things that aren’t so easy for you to monitor on your own, such as tracking your personal information on the internet and the dark web. This approach keeps Zander’s prices lower while still providing strong protection.

Zander offers two plans: the Individual Plan and the Family Plan. Zander’s Family Plan will cover two adults and up to 10 kids under the age of 18 who live in your home, with special exceptions for older children with disabilities for whom you are the primary caregiver, and for students 26 and under who are enrolled in an accredited college or university.

Monitoring and Alerts

Zander Identity Theft Protection scans the web and the dark web daily for signs of your personal information being bought and sold. You can have the company track your Social Security number, driver’s license number, up to six credit and debit cards, five email addresses, five medical IDs, five phone numbers and five bank account numbers.

Identity Theft Recovery

If your identity is stolen and your personal information is compromised, Zander will assign a Recovery Advocate to create a Recovery Plan to help you freeze accounts, notify authorities and work to recover your lost funds.

24/7/365 Customer Support

Zander provides around-the-clock customer support to ensure your identity protection needs are met.

$1 Million Reimbursement

If your identity is compromised, Zander ID Theft Protection offers up to $1 million in reimbursements for expenses incurred due to identity theft, including fees for lawyers and experts and cash recovery from checking, savings, HSA, and investment accounts. How Does Zander Stack Up?

Zander vs. IdentityForce

Starting at just $6.75 a month compared to IdentityForce’s lowest price of $9.99 a month, Zander is more affordable than IdentityForce, but it doesn’t offer some of IdentityForce’s features, such as social media monitoring and sex offender monitoring. When it comes to family pricing, IdentityForce’s pricing skyrockets to $35.90 a month, while Zander’s is just $12.90 a month. But again, IdentityForce offers extra features, including triple-bureau credit monitoring and a credit score tracker.

Zander vs. IdentityIQ

IdentityIQ’s starting price is a little bit higher than Zander’s, at a rate of $9.99 a month compared to $6.75 a month. However, IdentityIQ’s plan includes credit monitoring and scores from three different credit bureaus, neither of which are covered in the basic Individual Plan offered by Zander Identity Theft Protection. Both companies offer up to $1 million in reimbursements, but IdentityIQ only offers full coverage for adults. Kids are only covered for up to $25,000 under IdentityIQ’s Secure Max plan, and it will cost you $26.99 to cover them, compared to Zander’s Family Plan price of $12.90 a month.

Zander vs. LifeLock

Zander pulls out the win against LifeLock when it comes to pricing, at just $6.75 for its lowest-tier Individual Plan compared to LifeLock’s $9.99 for its lowest-tier plan. But cheaper doesn’t necessarily mean less coverage — LifeLock’s Standard plan only offers $25,000 in reimbursement, compared to Zander’s $1 million reimbursement coverage. On the other hand, LifeLock does include single-bureau credit monitoring and data breach notifications in its Standard plan, while Zander does not. Upper-tier LifeLock plans are pricey, but they include features such as cloud data backup, VPNs and security software. But if you want to add a child to your LifeLock plan, you’ll pay an additional $6 a month for a separate product. With Zander, the family plan includes up to 10 kids for just $12.90 a month.
