Frequently Asked Questions About Frontpoint Security

Frequently Asked Questions About Frontpoint Security

Does Frontpoint require a contract?

Not anymore! Frontpoint used to be one of the many home security providers that required a 36-month contract, but the company has recently forgone that requirement in favor of user-friendly month-to-month plans for all new customers.

Does Frontpoint offer professional installation?

No, but most users don’t report issues during the installation process thanks to the easy peel-and-stick set up options and wireless connectivity. There are no installation fees, either. Frontpoint offers online support if you hit any snags.

How do I get the best prices on Frontpoint Security?

Once you complete your research online, call Frontpoint to complete your purchase. Agents may have access to discounts and package pricing that is not available on the website.

Can I customize my Frontpoint equipment package?

Yes, you can customize your Frontpoint package online. If you need to add additional motion sensors or want to add a security camera to your package, you can do so easily on the provider’s website.

Where should I place Frontpoint equipment around the house?

The most effective placement depends on your home’s vulnerable areas, but the general idea is to add coverage to all of the areas where an intruder could gain entry.

In terms of specific equipment, the keypad/hub should be placed close to the primary door used to enter and exit, to help you remember to arm and disarm the system accordingly (if you’re not using the geolocation feature). Door/window sensors issue an alert whenever the door is opened, so they are best placed on exterior doors and large windows. They’re also effective on medicine cabinets and other storage areas. Glass break sensors should be installed on the wall or ceiling within 4-20 feet of the windows you’d like to monitor. Motion sensors work well in areas where other sensors aren’t ideal, such as staircases and hallways. Be sure to consult Frontpoint’s extensive user guides during installation in order to prevent false alarms.

Does Frontpoint with with Amazon Alexa and other smart home integrations?

Yes, Frontpoint works with Amazon Alexa. It also supports Google Assistant. Note that these integrations require either an Amazon Echo or Google Home device in order to work. The Frontpoint hub also works with Z-wave compatible devices from other smart home manufacturers, so it will support automation through many leading brands.

Does Frontpoint offer financing?

Frontpoint has told us it plans to offer financing options in the near future. Financing your equipment means there are no up-front costs, but may require a contract of its own. Otherwise, you will need to pay all equipment costs up front.

Does Frontpoint offer a no-risk trial period?

Yes, you can try out your Frontpoint security system for 30 days to decide if it is a good fit for your home. If not, you can return your system within that time period, and Frontpoint will cover the cost of shipping.

What is Frontpoint’s cancellation policy?

Since all new Frontpoint customers have month-to-month plans, you can cancel at any time by calling Frontpoint Customer Care. If you have a pre-existing Frontpoint contract, you may still be subject to early termination fees.

Does Frontpoint work during a power outage?

Yes, if your power goes out, Frontpoint security systems have 24-hour battery and 4G LTE cellular connection to help keep your home protected.

Why does Frontpoint have a good reputation for customer service?

Frontpoint has a transparent pricing structure, an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, a 9.3/10 rating on Trustpilot, a 4.5-star rating on Google and is the recipient of an Angie’s List Super Service Award. We feel this combination of user-friendliness, support and response to complaints is well above average.
