The most effective placement depends on your home’s vulnerable areas, but the general idea is to add coverage to all of the areas where an intruder could gain entry.
In terms of specific equipment, the keypad/hub should be placed close to the primary door used to enter and exit, to help you remember to arm and disarm the system accordingly (if you’re not using the geolocation feature). Door/window sensors issue an alert whenever the door is opened, so they are best placed on exterior doors and large windows. They’re also effective on medicine cabinets and other storage areas. Glass break sensors should be installed on the wall or ceiling within 4-20 feet of the windows you’d like to monitor. Motion sensors work well in areas where other sensors aren’t ideal, such as staircases and hallways. Be sure to consult Frontpoint’s extensive user guides during installation in order to prevent false alarms.
