Compare SimpliSafe vs. Abode

  • Package Variety

    Winner: SimpliSafe

SimpliSafe is the better option if you’re looking to choose from a variety of preset security packages. The provider currently offers more than five preset packages you can choose from, each with different equipment. The Foundation Package is great for a small home or apartment, while the Haven Package is better for a larger home. Abode currently has two security packages you can choose from. With both SimpliSafe and Abode, however, you can build your own on package online, tailored to the equipment you want to purchase.

  • Price

    Tie: Abode and SimpliSafe

Both Abode and SimpliSafe are inexpensive options compared to other home security providers like Frontpoint, Vivint, and ADT. SimpliSafe's professional monitoring is about $5 cheaper than Abode's, but you won't have access to home automation features. Both providers have equipment packages that cost around $230 for basic intrusion protection. We think it's a close call in terms of price.

  • Trial Period

    Winner: SimpliSafe

If you want more time to test out your security system to ensure it’s a good fit for your home, then SimpliSafe is your better option. The provider currently gives you 60 days to test out your security system and return it for a full refund if you’re not satisfied. Abode requires you to return your products within 30 days for a refund if you are unhappy with your purchase.

  • Smart Home Integration Options

    Winner: Abode

One of the biggest differences in features between Abode and SimpliSafe is the number of smart home options. Abode wins this round as the provider allows you to have up to 160 devices, like Philips HUE smart bulbs, Yale products, Google Nest products, and more. SimpliSafe currently offers one smart home device, the SimpliSafe Smart Lock. The provider has fewer smart home integrations but will work with Amazon Alexa, Apple Watch, Google Assistant, and August smart locks.

  • Monitoring Options

    Tie: SimpliSafe and Abode

You can choose between self or professional monitoring with SimpliSafe and Abode, giving you more freedom and flexibility of choice. If you're prefer to save a little extra money and feel confident about responding to alarm triggers, then self-monitoring is the way to go. If, however, you want access to 24/7 alarm response, professional monitoring is the way to go, and you'll have that option, which is inexpensive, with both providers.

  • Security Cameras

    Tie: SimpliSafe & Abode

Both SimpliSafe and Abode offer indoor security cameras so you can keep an eye on what’s happening in your home. Both cameras feature HD streaming, notifications, and two-way audio so you can talk to family members, pets, and or service professionals if you would like to. In order to access live video streaming with SimpliSafe, you’ll have to purchase either the Interactive or Pro Superior monitoring plan. Abode provides automatic access to live video streaming through the Abode mobile app.
