Compare ADT vs. Vector

ADT and Vector are both security solutions that offer professional installation and a range of packages. Founded in 1874, ADT offers reliable security solutions trusted by over 7 million customers. Vector is a newer security company that provides smart technology and home automation products. While Vector is more affordable, ADT is a great option for those who want peace of mind and more features to control your home security.

Compare ADT vs. Vector

  • Price

    Winner: Vector Security

The starting price of Vector Security appears to be a bit lower than ADT’s, which puts it slightly ahead here. The prices aren’t shown online we found that they start at $39.99 per month for professional monitoring. ADT’s pricing is a lot more transparent but more expensive. Monitoring services start at $45.99 per month and go up to $57.99 per month depending on the package you choose.

  • Trial Period

    Winner: ADT

Although both companies have fairly standard contract lengths of 36 months, there is a dramatic difference in how soon you're locked in for good. ADT offers a six-month money-back guarantee if you change your mind. This gives you a bit more time than Vector, which only offers a 30-day return policy.

  • Installation

    Winner: Vector Security

Both security companies offer full professional installation services for your security system. In both cases, technicians will give you tailored advice on using the security equipment. However, ADT charges $599 for all the security equipment in each of the packages, plus an installation fee starting at $99. In Vector’s case, there’s an upfront charge of $99 for equipment on the higher Connected Home Package, but no other upfront costs listed.

  • Mobile App

    Winner: ADT

ADT’s app allows you to arm and disarm your alarms, view camera feeds, control lights and save video clips. With Vector’s higher-rated mobile app, you can control smart locks and lights and even access a live feed of your cameras to keep an eye on your home. However, ADT offers mobile control in each package whereas Vector does not include it in its lower-priced package, giving it the edge in this category.

  • Professional Monitoring

    Winner: ADT

Both security companies provide 24/7 security monitoring on your home. ADT’s monitoring services are covered by their in-house team and cover carbon monoxide and fire alarms, intrusion alarms, panic alarms and even leak detection. Vector offers slightly fewer monitoring options, covering mostly burglar or fire alarms. When an alarm is triggered, it sends a signal to Vector’s monitoring team so that they can dispatch help if necessary.

  • Equipment

    Tie: ADT vs. Vector

Both companies offer a good range of security equipment. ADT offers video cameras, motion sensors and smart home equipment including smart locks and lights. Its motion sensors can even be programmed to recognize the size of your pets to avoid them triggering false alarms. Vector’s equipment also includes live video surveillance and smart home integrations, plus as a 12-point false alarm reduction system. Both systems can be used with Amazon Alexa for hands-free control.

Overall Winner: ADT

ADT is a well-established and trusted security company, providing excellent home protection. While both companies share several similarities, ADT provides extra value for its customers. For example, ADT offers its mobile app to customers on all packages, unlike Vector. ADT also appears to provide a few more monitoring options than Vector does, which gives it a better all-round value for money. Vector is still a great choice for those looking for a slightly more affordable option with a slightly slimmer set of services.
