Our take

This package is MobileHelp’s basic entry-level medical alert system. Starting at $19.95 per month for 24/7 professional monitoring, the MobileSafe Classic package is very competitively priced compared to similarly equipped packages from other leading medical alert providers. 

 

You don’t need a landline phone for the Classic package, since the base station has built-in cellular connectivity and two-way communication. You can call emergency services directly from the base station, or you can press the help button on your neck pendant or wristband (included). You also have the option to add automatic fall detection to this system by adding a Fall Detection pendant, which costs an additional $10 per month for monitoring.

If you have an active landline phone, the Wired Home package is likely MobileHelp’s best selection for at-home monitoring. This system is slightly more expensive than the Classic package, but it’s a better choice if there’s spotty cellular coverage in your area, or if you want a larger radius in which your wearable monitoring devices will work. While the Classic package’s wearable devices work within 600 feet of the base station, the Wired Home package has a coverage area up to 1,300 feet. The Wired Home package starts at $24.95/month.

Mobile Device

The MobileHelp Device functions similar to the cellular base station. Made for those on-the-go, this device also features two-way communication, allowing you to connect with an emergency operator no matter your location. Simply press the button on your neck pendant or wristband. This device is also water resistant, allowing you to wear it in the shower as well.

MobileHelp Neck Pendant or Wristband

The neck pendant help button comes on a lanyard and can easily be worn while you’re at home or out-and-about. The wristband is worn like a bracelet. Most of MobileHelp’s packages include your choice of one or the other. They’re both water resistant and can be used to call for help whenever you’re in range of a base station or Mobile Device.

MobileHelp Fall Button

This is the smart device you’ll need to wear if you opt into automatic fall detection monitoring. Even if you are unable to push the built-in help button, this device will automatically contact emergency help in case of a fall, as long as you’re within range of your base station or Mobile Device.

MobileHelp Smart Watch

This is a novel medical alert device that takes a strong cue from today’s modern smartwatches. It provides the reassurance of 24/7 monitoring but doesn’t have the telltale look of a medical device. No, a smartphone isn’t required to use MobileHelp. Simply use each system’s devices to get assistance for emergencies. Each one has its own wireless or landline connection to communicate with the MobileHelp monitoring center.

Does MobileHelp require a long-term contract?

No. All of its services can be accessed with month-to-month subscription plans that can be cancelled at any time. For many packages, discounts are available if you switch to longer-term payment plans (monthly, semi-annually, or yearly).

Does MobileHelp require you to purchase the equipment up front?

No. With most packages, the equipment is included at no extra cost as long as you’re enrolled in an active monitoring subscription. The exception is the Smart package – with this option, you need to purchase the watch up front.
