Introducing Abode’s newest surveillance camera. Get all of today’s top security camera specs at a fraction of the cost.

Abode is adding to its home security lineup with a new smart security camera that costs much less than the Abode Outdoor Smart Camera. The Abode Cam 2 is an indoor and outdoor camera. You can use it with or without Abode’s security system, depending on your security preference.

There are a few key differences between the Abode Outdoor Smart Camera and the Abode Cam 2. The Abode Smart Cam 2 features color night vision, so you can see guests clearly from your smartphone at all hours of the day. You can also ask Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to show you live videos and create recording routines. Plus, the camera is weatherproof for safe use outdoors.

Despite costing significantly less than the Abode Outdoor Smart Camera, the Abode Smart Cam 2 still packs a lot of power and features. It includes one of the most popular features: custom motion zones. Use the Abode app to draw areas on your smartphone and receive mobile notifications when there’s activity in a place when there shouldn’t be.

The Abode Smart Cam 2 is also tamper-resistant. With person detection software, the camera will alert you and send you a recorded video of the tampering if a thief tries to take your camera.

On top of the added specs, you’ll still get some of Abode’s most popular features. Here’s a quick overview of what’s included in both cameras:

  • Wifi connectivity for better range
  • Two-way audio
  • Person detection
  • Motion-triggered alerts
  • Flexible mounting options
  • Compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant
  • Ability to filter timeline events to see selected video clips

While many cameras require a hub to control all cameras, Abode doesn’t. You can set up your standalone Abode cameras wirelessly, and all videos are stored in the cloud.

Keep in mind that the Abode Smart Cam 2 only works with 2.4GHz wifi networks and doesn’t come with battery backup, so it may not function during a power outage. However, if the camera isn’t in range of the network, you’ll receive a mobile alert that the camera is offline.

Abode customers can still expect easy DIY installation using the Abode mobile app, wifi and the included wall adapter. The Abode Cam 2 starts at $34.99, but you can pre-order it today for $29.99. Abode will begin shipping cameras in April.
