General Electric Slow Cookers Recalled, Cause Burn Hazards
General Electric recalled nearly 600,000 slow cookers that were sold at Wal-Mart stores between August 2000 and December 2002 because the handles on the base could break and cause burns, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. These include the 4.5-quart oval and 6-quart double dish models, which are model numbers 106661 and 106851 with series codes A through D, the agency said. The CPSC advised those who own these slow cookers to stop using them and to contact Wal-Mart immediately for a replacement cooker base at 1-888-293-3343.
